Introduction
(DeutSCH)
Incomplete Century is an album of Classical Guitar Music performed by Miguel Angel Lejarza-Leo.
Although this is Angel's 9th Released Album, this represents a first for KCO Records.
Our aim is to be solely dedicated to the production of Classical Guitar albums,
to maintain the highest standards of excellence in music, to bring forward a new
wave of performers and to encourage the writing of music for the guitar.
One aim of this and future planned releases by KCO is to reestablish, in however small a way, the guitar as guitar. The guitar has always had a complex and uneasy relationship with the classical world. Increasingly, in the attempt to fit in, the guitar has compromised its essential nature, to the point where we find many of the principal players today aiming to contend directly with the piano and making pure technique the sacred goal of all their efforts: instead of music.
The touch of flesh and nail on a guitar string, the humanity and closeness of that touch, are the great beauty and advantage of the guitar, but they mean also that no guitarist will ever, or should, aspire to the clean, unvarying beauty of a keyboard instrument. A technique suitable for guitar will allow for a certain amount of so-called noise and at the same time for a wonderful dynamism unfettered by the need to adhere to a misconceived standard of classical perfection. It is this misconception in the very nature of the instrument that results in the robotic and over produced sound that so many true lovers of the guitar find so disappointing.
Just as an actor who visibly ‘acts’ communicates little to his audience, a guitarist whose technique forces attention whether by an oppressive virtuosity or by the reverse, fails the music he is called to perform.
On this CD, we hope you will find only music and that technique will make itself apparent in silence.
